I am trying to raise $729.00

to keep from losing my health insurance.

Long story short, I was self-employed,

so my wife had me covered

for health insurance

through her policy at her work.

We began having problems in our marriage,

(She started seeing someone from her work) .
When I found out, we split up.

When the divorce became final,

I was dropped from the policy

and had to go onto COBRA coverage.

She told me

the health insurance was supposed to keep me covered

Foreword up to a certain date,

Instead,

They discontinued me retroactively.

This means I have to pay 3 months backwards plus the current,

to avoid a break in coverage.

(They will give a 30 grace period

but on the current month only)

I have raised 50% of what I need

to stay covered.
But I have nothing left worth selling

The primary problem is

that if I lose my health insurance now,

(causing a lapse in coverage)

I would fall into a

"Pre-Existing Conditions"

status.

I would no longer be covered

for situations I currently have,

and would not be able to afford

to continue receiving care.

A secondary problem that would also result

is that Doctors & tests

already done recently

would denied payment,

placing me in serious debt.

If I can meet this retroactive payment,

I will be able to go foreword on my own.

I start new employment next week,

Since my own business has been going downhill

in the current market,

I am putting it "on hold" until things improve

I will be able to pay the upcoming premiums

on the policy from my earnings,

but do not have the funds right now,

to cover the retroactive portion.

In 3 months,

I will be eligible for health insurance

through my new employment

and

if I can keep from having a lapse in coverage,

I will be 100% covered by their policy.

I was going to sell my car

to make this retroactive payment

but an electronic short burned up the wiring.

(however, I can take the bus to the new job.)

I have never asked for help like this before.

I have seen others write for help
(yes, I have responded sometimes to them)

I am embarrassed to have to put out this plea, but I am desperate at this time.
